USCIS extending the suspension of premium processing for cap-subject H-1Bs accepted into the FY2019 lottery
Aug 28, 2018
USCIS announced today that they are extending the suspension of premium processing for cap-subject H-1Bs accepted into the FY2019 lottery. They are also extending the suspension, starting September 11th, to H-1Bs filed with the Vermont and California service centers. The suspension is expected to last until February 19, 2019. This suspension does not apply to other classifications, like the L or O. Essentially, starting September 11th, those seeking to change employers under the H-1B program will be unable to use premium processing until the suspension is lifted. Those seeking to extend their employment with the same employer will still be able to use the premium processing service. If you are considering a change of H-1B employer, it is important that you speak with an experienced immigration attorney to understand your options and ability to change employers when you can’t rely on premium processing.
